All about the Samaria: Europe’s Longest Gorge Walk.

Embark on an epic 16km walk through the stunning Samaria Gorge, one of Europe’s longest gorges, filled with breathtaking scenery and unique flora and fauna.

What to Expect:

  • Early Morning Transfer – Start your adventure with a bus ride to Omalos Plateau, the entrance of the gorge.
  • Spectacular 5-6 Hour Hike – Walk through the magnificent Samaria Gorge, surrounded by towering cliffs, rare plants, and wildlife.
  • Agia Roumeli – End your hike in the picturesque village of Agia Roumeli, where you can relax and take a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear waters of the Libyan Sea.
  • Boat Trip & Return – After your swim, take a boat ride to a nearby village, where a bus will be waiting to bring you back to your hotel, arriving by 9:00 PM.

    Let us know your hotel or villa of stay and we will let you know about the pick up time and place.

  2. Natura area Please let us know what is your level

    Samaria gorge is a protected area, so the following are strictly prohibited: any kind of pollution, collection of rocks, ancient findings, plants, animal hunting, free camping, fire and smoking around fauna, any activity that may threaten or damage the ecosystem.

     

  3. What to take with you Essentials
    • A hat, sun lotion or other sun protection
    • Your swimming suit and a towel
    • A bottle of water which you can keep refilling all the way down from the water springs
    • High energy snacks
    • Comfortable strong shoes are necessary for the day
    • Extra socks and second pair of shoes (sandals or flip flops to wear after the walk)

  4. The boat trip Tickets
    • 17.30 boat departs to a nearby village-the destination depends on the area you are staying
    • Meet your bus and driver at the arrival port to take you back to your hotel – the port you are heading to, the time of arrival and time back to your hotel depends on the area you are staying.
  5. Other notes Useful info

    This walk is only recommended for people in good health. It is a walk for all family but not children younger than 6years old. In any case the participation of a minor or not, is a decision that only the parent can take.
